Recreation.org helps people find the right official page for campsites, permits, passes and trails. Here is how we pick, check and update what we list.
What we list
Official government sites come first: federal agencies and state park systems. We add independent tools (apps, maps, alert services, private campground networks) only when they genuinely help with a trip, and we label which is which.
How we check
Every guide shows the month it was last checked. We revisit pages regularly and before busy seasons, and we fix broken or outdated links as soon as we find them.
Independence
Recreation.org is not affiliated with Recreation.gov or any government agency. Sponsored placements and paid articles are always labelled as sponsored, and they never change what our guides recommend.
Corrections
Spotted something wrong? Email info@recreation.org and we will fix it.
Not official advice
Rules, prices and dates are set by each agency and can change. Always confirm on the official site before you travel.
